Dealing with the Loss of a Loved One and the Pandemic
It's been 2 months since my mother passed away from her sickness and it was tough that she has to endure staying in her bed for a long time being partially bedridden with the care of me and her previous caregivers. I am also greatly supported by my husband and mother-in-law. I, though, have a brother who lived from us, somehow send us support for my mother's health and maintenance.
I'd like to share my husband's experience with attending to my mother's documents, requirements, and wake. I could the severity of the country's situation now that we are in the middle of a crisis, a lot of changes were made to the structure on how the process is being done when it comes to filing for a death certificate due to the increase in the number of Covid-19, the government institution strictly implemented rules to contain the virus, one of which is when a person is found to be a person under investigation, commonly known as PUI, or someone who has Covid-19, therefore when death arrives they are therefore cremated, no longer permitted to have a decent wake with families and friends. These saddens me even if I had the opportunity to be with my mom during the burial since it isn't a Covid-19 case.
Today, the pandemic is still there. the virus is still out there, it lurks somewhere and everywhere. Our land isn't the safest place anymore. Researchers are working closely to have this sickness be treated perhaps to ensure that the curve flattens. We are hoping, really hoping to have earth be healed. We learned to take care of ourselves, more than how we have been taking care of ourselves even before. Things that we religiously do now is to wash our hands all the time, sanitize, keep our surroundings clean and green, get a good amount of sleep, and keep our balanced diet. Earth has been at peace during these difficult times, however, our economy has been struggling, people have to find creative ways of earning for a living. Thankful that I am one of those, who still keep their job and could still provide food on our table.
